The Sodash team have a unique blend of technical excellence, intellectual rigour, creative flair and practical skills born of years of experience in industry and academia. Our team have worked for the BBC, Home Office, HM Treasury, Tesco Personal Finance and Motorola - plus lots of smaller organisations.

Daniel WintersteinDaniel Winterstein

Daniel has worked as an AI/mathematics developer in a variety of roles: as a consultant for companies such as the BBC and Motorola and the Ministry of Defence, in computer games for industry-leader Realtime Worlds, and as a university researcher. He studied Mathematics at Cambridge University (receiving first class honours and being elected as a scholar of Trinity Hall), followed by an M.Sc. with distinction and a Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence (AI) from Edinburgh University. Daniel is also a semi-professional writer and playwright, and writes an occasional science column for The Scotsman newspaper.


Joe HalliwellJoe Halliwell

Joe has worked in a variety of businesses from blue-chip corporate services to hi-tech start-ups in mobile communications and robotics. He studied Mathematics and Philosophy at Oxford University (receiving scholarships from Arthur Andersen and University College) before joining Daniel at the University of Edinburgh to obtain an M.Sc. with distinction and Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence. Joe is passionate about open-source software and has contributed to systems that are deployed on millions of desktops worldwide.


Tony DunnTony Dunn

During 20 years in IT, Tony has been fully engaged at all levels in a wide range of disciplines including Systems Development, Infrastructure Architecture, Support, Project Management, Consultancy, Sales and Management. His experience has been gained from a number of perspectives such as an Infrastructure Manager in a large financial institution, a Director and Founder of an IT Consultancy firm and UK Sales Director for a large multinational solutions and services organization.


Gabriel OrtizGabriel Ortiz

Gabriel has worked as an Animator, Designer and Marketing Strategist for SMEs. He studied Animation Design at Edinburgh College of Art, where he received his Masters in Design. He subsequently completed a Business Residency at the University of Edinburgh and is currently living in London. He is also a director at the web development company Nothing Grinder.

Colin FraserColin Fraser

Social Media Expert

Colin Fraser is a social media consultant whose recent clients include the BBC, UNESCO Edinburgh City of Literature, the National Library of Scotland and the Scottish Arts Council. He was a researcher specialising in innovative uses of technology for democratic engagement at the International Teledemocracy Centre and worked on a variety of projects for the Artificial Intelligence Applications Institute (AIAI). He is the founder and co-ordinator of KenYersel, a grassroots eDemocracy organisation. In 2009, Colin was a New Media Scotland Twitterer in Residence.
